Saying Yes: Day #4

Something I have wanted to do for a long time but have never quite gotten the rhythm of is posting on TikTok. I have a number of things that have held me back – not having consistent “ideas” or content. I'm not feeling like I want to show my face or even speak on camera every day. Also, I want to post content that helps me and others – meaning is authentic – while helping grow my business and revenue. The pressure of trying to do all those things and gain “organic” followers, whatever that means, has weighed on me so much that I’ve gotten stuck more than a few times.

For a while, when I was really doing a lot to promote The Dream Team Ducks, I had someone else create content for them on Instagram and Facebook. While I liked most of it, it didn’t always feel like me and as a result, seemed fake.

Lately, because of all the challenges, meditation, and affirmations I’ve been doing here, I’ve felt inspired to simply post daily affirmations. Combining my love of nature/being outside with my photos, videos, and affirmations that help me seemed like an obvious choice. So for the last week or so, I’ve been posting affirmations once or twice a day. In my bio, there is a link to a download of other written affirmations. And I can see this specifically evolving into something that drives traffic to my website, launches a book or course, etc.

To give this a boost, I am also participating somewhat in the #Teamwork and #roadto10K trend – essentially a collaborative effort of small creators to help each other get to 10000 followers so we/they can participate in all the tools and benefits to monetize social media content.

I’m also doing an experiment by testing out a company that promised to help you grow your followers. I decided to treat it like putting money in a slot machine and giving it a spin. At worst, I have a new story to tell. At best, I’ve saved myself some time and energy to have 10000K by the end of September.

In some ways, this may not seem like it ties into saying YES to myself. But the truth is, I have talked myself out of doing this over and over, for all the reasons above and others. The truth is, I know I am meant to help others and I want my audience to grow on TikTok, on Facebook, and yes here on SheVOLVE.

I love knowing I’ve made a difference in others' lives and this experiment/activity helps in multiple ways. On top of that, I’m ready to tap into the financial power behind social media because, as it has done for so many others, it would allow me to break free of some financial limitations – yes I have some debt I am ready to responsibly release – so that I can pursue the work that brings me joy, fulfillment, and satisfaction on an everyday basis.
