Cut the Complaining: Day #7

Cut the Complaining. “If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all.”

This morning during meditation, the frustrating situation I complained to my friend about two days ago came up. That is not really a surprise since it has been on my mind a lot. However today, I saw it in a different way and had a lot more clarity. I think the feedback I got from my friend - someone on the outside who saw the situation for what it was and could reflect it back to me in a new way – was an important part of the process.

Complaining does not mean staying silent or stuffing your feelings. Talking about what is bothering you can allow you to move from a complaining mindset or simply stewing in a problem to getting the momentum to move out of where you are and into a better mindset.

In a way to offset my negative or complaining thoughts, today I am going to focus on gratitude for myself and all the blessings that are in my life. I am also grateful for the “situation” that is on my mind, for it is helping me to see what I want and don’t want in my life while confirming that the path I am on is the right one.
